For this month's #TeacherProud Tuesday we are spotlighting these member districts.
Ash Grove R-IV
Both of our Teacher Proud winners this month are extremely deserving. Congratulations Ash Grove Elementary 1st Grade Teacher, Mrs. Michelle Thompson, and HS/JH Secretary Mrs. June Day.
Mrs. Thompson exemplifies the qualities of an outstanding educator in every aspect of the role. Her commitment to teaching the whole child sets her apart as a remarkable educator. She understands that academics alone do not define a child’s potential for success. This approach not only enhances student engagement but also cultivates a sense of belonging and self-confidence within her classroom that carries over into our school community and beyond. Mrs. Thompson is a lifelong learner and trailblazer among her peers. She actively participates in professional development opportunities that not only improve her instruction but the overall instruction within the building. As a leader in the building, her willingness to collaborate and mentor others has proven invaluable in elevating the overall quality of education at Ash Grove Elementary. As if her professional accomplishments were not impressive enough. Mrs. Thompson goes above and beyond by coaching multiple sports teams, chairing committees, and leading our Girls on the Run Program. Our school community is exceptionally fortunate to have her, and she truly embodies the essence of what it means to be a highly effective leader.
Mrs. June Day--the Missouri Student Information System, Special Education Department, Scheduling, and Counseling secretary--to say the least, has her hands full on a daily basis. Through all her crucially important job responsibilities, June displays an unwavering calmness. Her exceptional organizational skills and focus on continually improving make her a unique and valued member of the Ash Grove School District.
During June’s tenure she has willingly expanded her responsibilities. During the transition to the district’s new student information system this summer and fall, June has played an integral part in making the transition as seamless as possible. We are extremely proud of June and all of her great talents that support all aspects of our school district.

Ste. Genevieve County R-II School District
The Ste. Genevieve County R-II School District has achieved POW-MIA campus status in partnership with the Jefferson Barracks POW-MIA Museum. This designation was proposed to the Board of Education by Dr. Rhett Oldham, who reached out to the museum to launch this collaboration.
“The way we honor veterans here at SG R-II, and more importantly, the way our students approach our Veterans Day assemblies — they understand the importance of the sacrifices of our veterans. To me, proposing this designation was an extension of what we already do,” he says.
Dr. Oldham shares that our community is deeply appreciative of our veterans and their military services, and that to him, this POW-MIA status underscores our feelings, thoughts and emotions towards our veterans.
The District is appreciative to Dr. Oldham for his initiative to undertake this project, and is extremely excited to be collaborating with the Jefferson Barracks POW/MIA Museum to raise awareness of the POW/MIAs who have proudly served and fought for our freedoms.
